About Founder

Lakin Wynter is a remarkable individual who has overcome significant challenges to become the founder and director of the ACE Institute.

Back Story

After facing bankruptcy, dropping out of university, and experiencing homelessness due to a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, Lakin Wynter defied the odds stacked against her by embarking on a journey of self-education in the management of her mental health.

She made the crucial and personal connection between painting and the management of mental health on her journey to manage her mental illness, which in turn led to the creation of ACE Institute in 2020.

Lakin noticed that as a patient at the Cornwall Regional Hospital, whenever she was admitted to the psychiatric ward, she always painted and/or coloured.

Alongside this personal growth, Lakin also found solace and healing through art therapy, particularly through painting and coloring.

Creative Healing with ACE Institute

Drawing from her own experiences and successes, Lakin, founded the ACE Institute with a mission to empower individuals to manage their mental health through the transformative power of art therapy, specifically in the form of painting.
